Migraine Headache Types and Prevention

Migraineurs find solace in a dark quiet room to appease their throbbing headaches. Migraineurs, though, are five times more probable to acquire clinical sadness than people who do not have these weakening headaches. In opposition, people who are despondent are three times likelier than happy people to turn out to be migraineurs.

Migraine sufferers have a love hate relationship with caffeine. For many, the vasoconstrictor helps alleviate their migraine pain. Certain foods such as cheese, alcohol, monosodium glutamate (a food additive), nuts, beans, caffeine, chocolate and onions can instigate migraines. Foods that set off headaches are called “triggers.” People who experience migraine headaches because of food sensitivities can reduce their pain by merely eliminating the foods producing the pain.

Migraine headaches needed to be treated because of the severity of the pain associated with the headache. The treatment is much stronger than just taking some Ibuprofen or aspirin. Physical activity may cause migraine headaches and that activity should be avoided. Those with migraine headaches also are advised to stay away from light and loud noises, which can aggravate the migraine headache further.

Exercise as Treatment

With the pain of a migraine headache pounding in your head, the last thing any migraine sufferer is going to consider for relief is exercise, but exercise can be an excellent way to gain freedom from migraine pain. While exercising, the body will begin producing a chemical called endorphins which actually help reduce pain. However, when using exercise as a means of pain reduction, it is best to begin slowly, as exercising heavily can actually aggravate a migraine.

When you start looking into different types of migraine headache medication you should consult your doctor as they will be completely knowledgeable about the medication and any associated side effects. It is possible that you may need to try a few different treatments before you find a medication that works on your migraine headaches.

The best prevention is to be proactive in discovering individual triggers. Individuals can discover that they have migraine headache triggers of caffeine, food, stress, or other things. Avoiding said triggers can lead to fewer attacks. By avoiding triggers, some individuals have been able to virtually eliminate migraine headaches from their lives all together. While there is no cure, it can be managed.

Some herbal remedies are known to prevent or ease a migraine headache. Dried herbs can be used to make teas or tinctures. Herbal extracts are potent and need to be diluted before use. Capsules come in many herbal combinations and are readily available at most natural or health food stores. Relaxed breathing is another natural remedy for migraines.
